it was good overall i mean it didnt follow the same structured format that my previous interviews did where they asked a question and i answered. for cornell they really wanted to deep dive into my current work, ask deeper questions, and have more of a conversation which was unexpected but overall fine

Agreed with what people said so far about the interviews being conversational and specific to my app. Didn’t feel like my interviewers were like chosen for my app though or anything per some comments above

Like they would anywhere else? Look at whole app w/ addition of interview and pick top 20% of ppl.

i personally think they were kinda evaluative and sorta testing if the things on my app were real by asking deeper questions about my activities. at the same time it was conversational because it didn't follow a structure of like 1) tell me about yourself 2) why medicine 3) what is a challenge you went through etc.

Is someone able to provide insight into how the interview day is? Is one interview open-file while the other is closed-file (or are both open)? Additionally, is it conversational and do they focus on experiences/typical interview questions or do they sprinkle in ethical questions too? Thank you!

It probably differs? Both of mine were open-file. Super conversational, they focused on things that they thought were important to you. I did have one super easy ethical question in my second interview.
