Got a deferral email! OOS interviewed late September

If you got the deferral email, does that mean there's a still a chance of getting accepted at a later date? or is it likely a WL?

I got an IS deferral :/ — they use that points system so looks like they took a lot of high stat applicants during release day 1. Hopefully day 2 and 3 are kinder LOL
