its a median 519. so 50% matriculated have a 519+. its the first day of interviews, makes sense they are all 520+.
IS MD II, app complete 7/7, interview on 8/26. A lot of 520+ today but I "only" have a 515.
dont they do this every year lol

For the Biology lab pre-requisites, do they require labs with each of the upper-level bio courses?
If I have AP credit for 1 year of General Biology + Lab, is the only way to make up for that by taking two upper-level Biology lab courses before matriculating?
Does rochester take a while to get their secondary? I am IS and haven't recieved it yet, verified on 7/31 :(

love a good R 😑
Ahhh seems like they're rejecting early submitters
yes, just got an IS R lol
IS R as well. I'm a reapplicant that got II there last cycle
Were they looking for anything in particular such that not having it means a rejection this early?

did you get an email notif about the R? Sorry about that- amazing wishes for the rest of the cycle
Did they go out of their way to reject all the high stat applicants or something? Some of the profiles being rejected are crazy....

yes and they also proceeded to write in their email what kind of qualities they look for haha, thank you!!

I doubt it. I think the important thing to remember is that even people who have objectively great and competitive apps with no holes or red flags will still wind up rejected at most of the schools they apply to. That's just how it goes when the applicant pool is as largely competitive as the medical school one is.

They went out of their way to reject all the really awesome people because they were like, "They have too much awesomeness! What do we do?"
Any MD-PhD rejections?

What did their email say?

“The Admissions Committee has completed a thoughtful and careful review of your application. I am sorry to inform you that we will not be able to offer you admission to the class of 2031.
To date we have received a record number of applications for the 104 places in our entering class. Many highly motivated and qualified applicants have applied to Rochester and it is truly unfortunate that we can only accept a few of these outstanding applicants.
In addition to outstanding academic records, many of our applicants participate in significant and sustained extracurricular activities, including research, clinical and medical shadowing experiences, study and volunteer programs abroad, and outreach to underserved communities. Rochester values "patient-centered" medicine and we are particularly interested in applicants who have extended themselves well beyond their comfort zone through extensive volunteer or work activities with people from different cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds, beyond the campus environment.
We thank you for your interest and wish you success in gaining admission to medical school.”

I don't know why schools bother listing qualities like this as if a huge amount of applicants they reject don't already have these lollll. But I guess it's good to know.

If there are any current students who have done a UofR REU (or other pipeline program), did you mention this in your interview? I'm so hyped
any idea why so many people are have been rejected from rochester in the last few days? i wasn't but also haven't gotten an ii yet so i'm a little confused.

probably a mix of mission fit/stats/luck/etc. I would consider it a good sign if you haven't been rejected yet. I appreciate Rochester for doing early rejection waves this year.

Maybe they're just going chronologically and inviting who the want to interview from each date range and rejecting the rest as they go so they don't have a huge pile to reject later

most of the people i saw had incredible stats! so i guess heavy on fit and luck. and yes i wish more schools did this it would make the process much less stressful lol
