thanks this was helpful! If we don't have an II but submitted relatively early, are we done for and just waiting for our R wave?

hard to say for certain (i am in this spot). I am taking it as encouragement that they are actually considering giving me a later ii but by no means is a guarantee.

i have no reason to believe this but its what i have decided to believe.

Lol same. As someone with a lower MCAT and an early submission date (and one of only two people from that date who haven't heard anything), I am also cautiously optimistic

Just a heads up to you applicants/interviewees. Dartmouth uses a modified rolling admissions process in which they cap the number of outright acceptances they offer as to provide an equal chance to those who interview later. If you are interviewing at Dartmouth, regardless of when, you are interviewing for a seat in the class. There is no "if your II comes after the new year you're interviewing for a spot on the waitlist" here.

What that means in practice is that most people who interview will hear nothing for some time. A few interviewed students in every group will get A's off the rip, but most A's are handed out nearer the end of the cycle. It is a consequence of them trying to hold seats open for the later interviews.

Hey do you mind if I ask how much the group interview matters? I bombed mine and contributed much less than I should've

Does anyone know if they normally call or email acceptances? (I don't remember them saying at my interview)
