Hi, could anyone share the secondary prompts for this year? I heard that one of the questions changed from last cycle.

For course changes, we only need to be notified about changes related to prerequisite courses. (250 words)

Hey all. Current M4 here, popping over from the residency application to the med school side to see what's going on. I'm happy to answer any questions and will try to check back in with some regularity. (I'm ok for DMs too, but no promises on how quickly I respond--sorry!) I'm N=1, but I love it here. I think most people actually enjoy it up here, but I want to be careful not to speak for everyone.

Me: 34 years old, non-trad, white, first-gen from a small town in Ohio, low GPA, MCAT 509, little research, MS Pharm Chem from UF, Air Force vet, medical scribe for about 1 year.

It took 2 application cycles for me to get in anywhere, and I only applied to Geisel on round 2.

I have a wife and a 2-year-old, and the people here are super supportive. They helped facilitate local clerkships so I can be with my family despite the clerkship locations usually being determined by lottery.

The application process is miserable. I empathize with all of you as I am currently working through the residency application process (general surgery). Remember that there is a lot more to you than what paper can tell. These programs know that. Be proud of your accomplishments. Submitting an application to medical school is an accomplishment in itself!

Keep your heads up and stay strong. It is all worth it! :)

Go to their 25-26 cycle data on here. Sort interview date. Look at when submissions were made. You’ll see people with early july submission for like the whole time. Almost ZERO interview life has been “used up”. Your straight. Keep trucking.

Seems like they've sent fewer IIs so far compared to last year? Maybe a consequence of an earlier cycle or just running slower?

Anyone interviewing this week find anything on dress code? I don't see it listed anywhere so will prob go with a suit to be safe

Is it just me or was that interview day like so amazing? Genuinely moved them up the list of schools I want to attend

Didn't interview today but my interview day was the complete oppposite...although it was mainly the other interviewees that were being unfriendly rather than admissions

Oh damn that sucks. I just thought the dean was so welcoming and I loved the presentation and vibes of the campus. Also my interviewers actually asked me interesting and thought provoking questions

I feel like I got really unusual questions: ie "how would you describe a beautiful sunset to someone who has been visually impaired since birth?" etc. But the vibes were lovely!

Wait yeah the dean and admissions were really nice and presented the campus well, and both my interviewers were chill. But the other interviewees just gave extreme gunner which was the complete opposite... idk maybe those people wont get in? haha

Omg what? The people on my interview day were so nice 😅 How were they being gunners? Like do you mean during the group interview?

Wow this is crazy. I also got a couple unusual ones like "Will AI ever be able to take the jobs of physicians?" I think these are a lot more fun than just "Tell me about your clinical job"

Well I really hope i was not one of those people lol because I def got excited during the group session bc I thought it was really fun and I hope that didn't come off the wrong way to some people

Just like very dismissive and not collaborative, it felt like there was a memo i didnt get and to my knowledge none of us knew each other going in. There were some nice interviewees tho i just didnt really interact with them

Honestly that will reflect poorly on them, not you. If anything it will make you look better for not acting that way! The whole point of a group interview is to collaborate 😭

For those who have been interviewed, when did you submit your secondaries? I submitted July 3 (the day after I got it) and haven't heard anything back. Ofc they might not extend an interview invitation to me, but is it a bad sign that I haven't heard anything yet?

Also curious as Geisel is a top choice!

I'd recommend going to Geisel's cycle result page and sorting by people who have received interviews so far. then you can see when all of them submitted their secondaries

From what I can tell they don't always go in order of secondary submission! Anecdotal evidence, but I have a few friends there who all submitted their secondaries right when they came out in July, but got interviews at different times (even months apart)

When I was in the interview yesterday they were talking about how they want to make sure people who interview late in the cycle have as good a chance as people who interview early. So they’re definitely looking to pick up more quality candidates in later interview months! :)
