We WILL debunk the myth once and for all this year

I don't hear well at the start. I hear 'on a different one right now' as the opening sentence but it's unclear and in the middle of her sentence.
ya, hard to tell what the context was, but thanks for keeping the eternal flame of two zoom calls burning
I think Case understands well enough how mentally challenging this process is and that getting a deferral, though it’s a not a rejection, is still devastating for most people. I doubt they’d deliver that news on camera where you are being watched by your peers and faculty members
As someone who is a reapplicant that got several waitlist offers last cycle but no acceptances, I’d have a full emotional breakdown immediately
Is a deferral different than a waitlist?

Deferral typically means they will "defer" your application to be reconsidered later as opposed to waitlist which is a final decision on your application(that you are waitlisted and can only get in if someone dosen't take their A).

They said in my interview everyone who is not accepted (with the very rare exception of immediate rejection) gets alternate list. Then in the Spring they will re-review everyone and split that into WL and R around April.

So they are not WL people at this point, just deferring? I’m confused

Yeah they explicitly said there is no immediate WL in my interview.

Maybe I understood wrong, but I think alternate list is re-reviewed at every committee meeting? So alternate now could potentially mean update next time they release decisions.
