yes

BU sent out their secondary mid-July last year; they are not super fast with sending them out, so I recommend just prewriting and waiting. But be mindful that quality>timing, they reject very fast instead of ghosting! Best wishes!

I actually dug a lot into BU when I applied, so the CASPER is not important in the grand scheme of sending II or making acceptance decisions. It's more of a data point that gets gathered. The only scenario where it might hurt you is if you score 1/2 quartile and then during the interview you act in an immature/arrogant/unlikeable manner, then that score becomes an extra data point to make you less competitive for acceptance.

In the 2021 cycle, BU first incorporated Casper as an extra data point to extrapolate teamwork, empathy, and communication skills because it is hard to get that straight from the primary application.

3 years later, in 2024, after analyzing the data, Dean Goodell said it is now a minor factor. They found only a slight correlation between the Casper score and the interview score/final decision to admit, but it is very slim. They are now trying to see if Casper score coorrelate with med student performance and will adjust the importance of CASPER based on the results.

When did you get the email to create your username/password vs the email for the secondary portal? I created my account yesterday afternoon but never got another email with the link to the portal. Should these have come back to back?

The link to the portal is in the original email they sent. I waited until I got the second email from IT (3 days later for me) then used the link on there to activate my account. It took like 10 minutes after the activation request for the account to become active and I was able to log in! The link wasn't working for me at first to activate my account so I called the IT department and they were super helpful, would recommend doing that if you're having problems.

so we don’t need to wait for the third email? Just login from the original email w user and password?

so confused by the Core Competencies section. do we write out the courses relevant to the subject (like every bio course taken, listen in the box) OR do we explain our competencies in the section (like my bio education) OR both? i wouldn't even have space for both

someone responded to this question in the general community forum and said they're just putting courses.

I'm listing the courses i took and research labs i was in (like their example). hopefully they don't expect explanations bc im not giving any

it says if they require anything else from they will reach out so I just took that as I will interpret it that way and if they need something else they will reach out

Any advice for answering this question? "Provide a timeline or narrative highlighting any notable aspects of your educational journey that you believe are especially relevant or significant to us better understanding who you are. Section not required but...this is an opportunity to describe any learning experience(s) that are not covered in other sections of your supplemental application or AMCAS application. For example, have you lived in another country or experienced a culture unlike your own? Worked in a field that contributed to your understanding of people unlike yourself? Do you have advanced training in art, music, or sports, etc.? (Max 300 words)" I am a computer science major.... not sure if that is relevant here. No clue what to write about if anything. Any ideas would be appreciated. Should I talk about my religious education?

literally anything thats important to your story that they havent seen yet. i talked about my non-stem minor. it can be anything as long as you have some kind of example/story and connect it to skills/what makes you a good applicant

kinda related to this, are yall filling out this prompt?

"Use this space to provide any additional information you feel will provide us with a comprehensive understanding of your strengths as a candidate for a career in medicine.Β  Do not include information already provided in your AMCAS application or other sections of the supplemental application."

I know some people use these types of essays for "why this school" or to elaborate on activities (like write essays), any thoughts? unsure because it also says "Most students leave this blank."

Careful now: when they say most people leave it blank, they mean it as optional. I got accepted without writing anything here. If you include meaningless info or redundant info, then it will end up hurting you compared to if you just left it blank. So think hard about whether you have anything meaningful to include. It is completely fine to leave this blank if there is nothing else to say.

For the question "Submitting Health Professions Advisory Committee letter", do letter packets count as committee letters? My advising committee compiled my letters and sent a packet. What option should I select for this: No committee or advisor letter available or I have or plan to submit a committee letter?

I put that option for my letter packet, hopefully that's correct lol. Because the second option lumps together committee packet AND letter packet: "OR, 1 committee letter or a letter packet, which typically comes from your university's pre-health advising office..." I felt like it was fine.
