I have WMed Phone interview this week. This will be my first med school interview and I am anxious about how much preparation I should be doing. For people who have had this interview is it enough to have good prepped answers to my stories and experiences/ why med/ about me questions?
No, they don’t ask about this at all. It’s all situational questions.

As someone who has an II at a different school with barely above-average stats compared to a 2025 matriculant and just looking at this site, I would say it's so random how each school conducts its process. The school that gave me a II gave people who submitted weeks after me IIs but eventually came back to me. You really just have to try not to read too deeply into it or go down that rabbit hole.
Purely speculative for myself, I've been "under consideration" since 8/12. I would guess my app has been looked at least once since then, but they passed over it for now. The vast majority of people who have gotten IIs from here so far (again, can't read too deep into it since admit has some higher stat bias) have been higher stats than I and would also guess Michigan residents have some priority as well because W Med does have significant in-state bias (IS apps have double the chance of receiving an II here). I'm hoping they will eventually circle back to me and that this theme is likely going to be true for most schools for with my middle-of-the-road stats.
My friend last year didn't get a single II until april of last year and was accepted around a month later as a low-stat applicant. He advocated for himself and stuck through it. It's a long process. Take the fact that you did make it through the first part of this school's process and take it as a win for now.
Best of luck!!!
This genuinely makes me feel better, you are right. Thank you.

how much time do people prepare for the phone interview? any general tips?

They are definitely not going in order lol, submitted 7/8 just now entered experience review... Seems like people move through experience review in about a week on average? And shortly thereafter (within days) get phone interview potentially? (lmk if anyone has differing personal experiences).
Yep it is not in order.
Moved into the experiences review step 8/17, completed 8/25, phone interview 9/1
