currently an MS1 here. you can submit both pre and post II update letters. also if youve already done your interview and utsw is your top choice, you can submit a letter of intent.

great! i really like the pass fail preclinical curriculum but i will say like with any medical school it's a bunch of work and utsw is known for a really rigorous preclinical curriculum. also my classmates are dope but the class size is really large so that may be a turnoff for some. but other than that, any other questions?

Has anyone in-state been accepted to UTSW, or are they only accepting oos applicants right now? I'm really confused about the Texas match system for med school. Interviewed today and would like to know if I have to wait until the Feb match, or if I could hear back sooner.

I have a couple questions if you don't mind...

The Academic College System is really appealing to me, but I'm curious to hear if you have found it to be a really great resource during your first year, or if it's just something kinda nice to have but not essential.

What are some pros/cons of living in Dallas?

You mentioned the relatively large class size, in your experience what are the pros/cons of being part of a larger class?

Thank you!

hey yeah sorry for the late response.

i really like the colleges system. think of it like the harry potter houses. even more than the colleges system, each college is further subdividied into groups of 6 students with one physician mentor. the mentor meets with you and the five other med students in your college and helps you hone clinical skills and become a well rounded doctor by talking about current topics in healthcare as well as ethics in medicine. beyond that, we do a lot of fun things as a college whether that be going to basketball games or dinner etcetc.

ive been in dallas for a good bit of my life so it feels like home but you definitely need a car. running is huge at utsw so youll see a good amount of people on the katy trail usually. on the weekends, most people do end up goign out or at least the people i hang aroudn with so it's a fun time.

pros of a large class--big lot of people to become friends with and youll always be seeing some new faces which is nice and youll never really feel alone.

cons--it can feel overwhelming at first, but everyone does find their 'group' some way or another.

lmk if you have more questions!

You could be completely right- just putting out there that I heard something different, which is that most in-state A’s wait for match day and OOS can receive an A at any time. But I am also very confused as an OOS applicant so maybe I’m just totally wrong.

Yeah OOS is not apart of the match system, so you guys can hear back at anytime! And don't quote me, but I think that UTSW is pre-match heavy, and then they fill up the rest of the seats on match day.

As an OOS applicant who interviewed on 10/29 but didn’t get accepted during the November wave, is it most likely gonna be a WL or R at this point?

Hopefully good news on your end. I think they might be a little delayed because of the holidays, or maybe I'll hear back during the match.

super grateful to have matched at Long! but was wondering, can anyone speak to wl movement here?

Feb 15, 2026

So does literally no one know how the remainder of the OOS decisions are gonna go in terms of timeline? Have not seen anything about this yet. Aside from that tiny wave in late 2025, it seems everyone OOS has just heard silence.

Those that were waitlisted on the 13th, did you get an email/decision in the portal?

Feb 17, 2026

Hi all. I did not receive an update on the 13th from UTSW. I expected to hear yes, no or waitlisted from them but its been nothing but crickets.....Is this considered a soft/silent rejection? or are my odds still alive? Would it hurt to send an LOI since they are my top choice? Thanks

I think in previous years they didn't send out the waitlist emails for about 10 days

Hi! Most of the WL movement will occur in early May. I believe there were two waves that fulfilled the remaining seats last year

When I attended a campus visit in Jan, they said most financial aid offers have alr gone out. Not sure if this only applies to merit based aid or what. For reference, mine came in with the admissions offer.

If an OOS applicant withdraws is that seat going to OOS, IS, or either?
