Huge congratulations! Do you mind me asking you about your general stats? Are you from a bordering state?

Thank you! I am 516/~3.8 GPA and while I do live in a bordering state, I have no ties to Iowa. I imagine I'm just a strong mission fit.

By mission fit, do you mean wanting to serve rural areas? Just trying to trouble shoot why I haven't heard anything yet...

Most people won’t hear anything till the final pool especially with sub 515 mcat. They only accept like 30 oos out of the couple hundred that get interviewed so the numbers are very low combined with only the top getting accepted each week makes the odds extremely low

I’m just basing it off the past years data and this year but most if not all acceptances from October- etc have been from 519+ mcats and only 1-2 sub 516. Hard to tell if in state or oos but I assume more leniency is placed on in state people given the 80% law. Plus when you look at the individual profiles u can see how many schools they apply to and guesstimate based on that where they are from bc they have certain in state schools on their list.

They accept much more than just 30 oos students. OOS acceptants are less likely to commit for a variety of reasons (higher tuition for OOS, if they're getting accepted as OOS at a school that prefers IS they prob have high stats and thus likely have acceptances elsewhere/options to choose from, going somewhere closer to home, etc). Most OOS acceptants will not matriculate; so as they turn down admission offers, more OOS students will be offered spots to fill the designated OOS spots in the class.

Correct I am purely talking about the number they go off of for pre final pool which is 30 ish students given the law of 80% in state. Once people start declining later on lower stat or borderline people on their ranking get in off waitlist etc bc of movement. But the initial max is around 30 oos As
