Oh 100%. The second I joined the zoom call I just kinda thought it's so over that I may as well have fun at my mmis. I feel like I'm a good applicant and will get into somewhere else, but I am not quite the level they're looking for and that's okay.

So glad somebody else said it, yes absolutely. To get an nyu interview we did all have to be impressive to some extent. But I feel like some of yall are just a whole different caliber lol. Not to mention, ppl with my admit score did not see much success last cycle 😭. Like the above comment said, I’m sure we’ll all be successful this cycle, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say this R is going to HURT.

I am so happy we started this thread. It is so comforting to know people felt the same way. Sometimes when someone seems particularly impressive I cannot help a 10 second google snoop and then I instantly regret it because I feel worse lol.

Haha omg same. It made me less nervous if anything but still - I was like the statistics are so not in my favor.

Some people will say "I am on X scholarship program in X foreign country" usually.

Some people will just offer info when it's just applicants. Like, "I am finishing my PhD in (insert super impressive thing). Or it's really jarring when 80% of the applicants come from a T10 school.
