As someone who interviewed last year, the best piece of advice I can give is to let things fall into place and not focus on uncontrollable factors. Statistically speaking, there should be more NYU IIs being sent out between now and December, but even getting an interview is not a guarantee of acceptance (most people who interview at NYU will get rejected). You already have a lot of great IIs! Focus on those for now, and if NYU's meant to be, then it's meant to be.
thanks :') also lol jsut got an nyu II in my inbox ~6pm but tysm for ur kind words
How do others feel about NYU cutting gender-affirming care for pediatric patients? I'm personally disgusted at the way this administration attacks trans people, a group that is constantly oppressed in every sense--and seeing this school capitulate just doesn't sit right with me
It has been said before on previous forums but the Dean for Admissions at NYU, Dr. Rivera, is honestly spectacular. I interviewed this week and his informational session with the Dean was the most illuminating one so far. He was very upfront about the reasons to choose NYU and the reasons to potentially not choose it. I also really appreciated his candor about the relative futility of choosing a school based on research (every school already has too much research for just their medical students!). If only NYU accepted more of their interviewees! NYU please increase your class size! (Dean Rivera mentioned that he peruses the forums occasionally).

and what are, if u don't mind sharing, some of the reasons to choose or not to choose NYU?

I mean he mentioned pros including free tuition, graduating a year earlier than your peers and all the future monetary benefits that provides, NYC as a young person (he mentioned it not being particularly well suited for raising a family), the clinical facilities/their patient outcomes, and the NYU residency track. Reasons not to choose NYU included people who did not enjoy city life and those who were choosing purely based on research funding, which he mentioned should not be a big factor in choosing a medical school (I agree). Also worth noting that he was very transparent about the next steps including when people will hear back post interview and their expected class sizes and whatnot.

No discussion about the interviewees stats that day or moving forward.

I mean nobody is forcing you to apply. I also think this isn't really the space to argue politics, no matter what you consider to be an injustice or not. Maybe go become a lawyer?

Exactly. If this person is personally so disgusted at this NYU change, why would you want to apply and attend a school that teaches and practices differently than what you are so opposed to? If someone feels so strongly about that, then just withdraw the application lol.
This is supposed to be about the application cycle itself, not a politics debate. No matter your political affiliation, trust me, we all see the hate comments on the current administration far too often on social media, so I really don't want to see more negativity on a website that has little to no direct connection with politics. That's for Reddit or possibly a general community forum post.

Yeah Dean Rivera was honestly the highlight of my interview day with them and my favorite dean of all the schools I interviewed at. He’s so transparent and will tell you the reason why they do every single thing they do at NYU bc he truly believes that everything they do is in the best interest of the students and the patients they’ll one day serve. Every single aspect of the program is scrutinized to make sure it serves a real purpose. And it’s not just vibes based. Dean Rivera is obsessed with numbers and real objective data and has used it to create the perfect program and a future of constant improvement at their school
