@nyu ily, pls love me back
Does anyone know if there are any upcoming information sessions by Dean Rivera for post-II information about CR, etc?

if you're on CR, then just have your phone close by on Fridays. Dean Rivera mentioned he calls people on Fridays to inform them of their acceptance. I haven't heard anyone get accepted into NYU yet, although presumably some have been. Does anyone have any anecdotal information (do you know anyone who've gotten into NYU this cycle)?

Allegedly, someone who interview recently heard from rivera that they are behind and haven't actually sent any. I saw this on the NYU SDN thread so maybe go look there.

very interesting, I thought it odd that they are holding off from sending further IIs.

Follow-up: I see what you mean "Any updates from people who had info session today?
i was there today! dean rivera did reiterate that they were running behind, and that most of the first wave of acceptances will likely go out from late november to late december. if you secure a post-II CR, that's good bc it means you're still in the running for an A."

yikes. hold on tight guys lol
does anyone know when they might be coming out with their second wave of interviews?
for my continued review crowd, should we give up expecting acceptances until thanksgiving? at this point it seems like we're heading in that direction.

Wondering the same thing. I think everyone who doesn't get a R right after interviews gets a CR initially if I'm not mistaken?

from what I've heard, it really can go both ways. I've talked to MS1s and MS2s and they've said most of their class was on CR at some point. Mostly late interviewers (think December) go directly from II--> A

MMI for me was not so much ethical scenarios as it was asking questions about stories from my own life

I've seen your post regarding your 523 mcat and being on the 10th percentile of their GPA. You get an interview= you have a chance, as does everyone else interviewing with you. I am assuming you're rage-baiting.

Update for those who have interviewed and are wondering what is going on with decisions this year. Dr. Rivera mentioned that they are behind in sending out decisions, but did note what they will be doing. No matter what, you will receive some signal from the school three weeks after your interview: a continued review or a rejection.
As we enter November, they will start going through their continued review pool and sending out decisions as follows. 120 acceptances will be sent out between November and early January. In January, they will then send 100-150 waitlists to those that remain in the continued review pool, with the rest receiving rejections. Hope this clarifies things for everyone, and best of luck. I also do not have SDN, so if someone wants to screenshot this and post it, please do so.

Cool that NYU is this transparent. Does it seem like the cycle is over at NYU then for new interviews?

Yeah, that’s a great question. It looks like they typically send interview invites through November, which likely means interviews run into December or early January. From what I understand, they interview around 64 people each week, starting in late August or early September. If they continue through the week of December 22nd (with a break for Thanksgiving), that would be about 15–16 weeks of interviews, or roughly 1,000 total.
That said, the MSAR notes they interviewed 783 applicants last year, so the numbers might be a bit off, maybe fewer weeks or smaller sessions.
Either way, there’s still time to receive an interview. If you have a meaningful update, it’s definitely worth sending one. Just don’t send a letter of interest or intent per Dr. Rivera, he's emphasized that your application itself serves as your letter of interest, and it’s hard to “intend” something before considering all your options.

Do they send post-II rejections throughout the cycle once you are put on CR? Or do they just reject from CR only after the 120 initial acceptances and waitlists are confirmed?

It was not 100% clear (or I just can't remember), but it sounded like they will send out acceptances first and then send out waitlists and post-II rejections.
Sorry, I don't have a great answer.

I appreciate you letting us know. I really wish they just start accepting people today so we can get the ball rolling.

Thank you so much for sharing! Were you at the Dean's session yesterday? Good luck with everything :)

They've said in a previous info session that they plan on interviewing "around 700 applicants" this year. This was in September though, so things may have changed.

Yeah, not 100% sure if they take certain weeks off or if different weeks have fewer applicants interviewing, so my ballparking is just that. Thanks for the additional confirmation.
Does anyone remember what was said about submitting update letters post-interview? I have an update, but I feel like during the information sessions, it was mentioned that update letters don't hold much weight after 1 week after the interview. Was it discouraged to send anything after then?

Very excited for my interview, but what does it look like? Obviously, you can't disclose a lot of information, but I've gotten hints that it's not like other MMIs that are only scenario-based. Generally, what does it look like, and how should I best prepare?

depends on before or after CR, but I would say that any update is better than none
Do we think that the first As will go out this Friday based on what Dean Rivera has said?
Is NYU done with interviews for the cycle? Or do we think another mini wave might go out later?

If I had to guess, yes they are done. Mainly because people from the latest batch said their interviews are scheduled for late December. If I'm not mistaken, NYU's last interviews are in December, because they want to have everything set by January

Yeah that makes sense ig. I was a little hopeful because they had interview invites come out in November last cycle. But based on the current percentage of interviews and the scheduling like you mentioned, they’re prob done. Thanks for the reply!

Good morning,
Friends, future colleagues, the time has come: https://forums.studentdoctor.net/threads/2025-2026-nyu-grossman.1508054/post-24892659
If there is a Dean's session today can someone who attends it report what he says about when acceptances will go out?
Is the open station in the MMI open or closed file? Will my interviewer already be familiar with my application?

It is closed file!

This might be a dumb question but do all students at NYU finish the curriculum in three years? I know every student has the option to do a masters or take a research year but if you don't do either of those you graduate after M3?

There was one A reported on SDN and one reported on cycle track. so I would imagine they sent out a few. The one reported on SDN had an LM score of 84 which is equal to a 4.00 and a 527 MCAT, so honestly, fair enough.
I have heard that if we don't hear from it in the next two weeks (basically, before Thanksgiving), we are done. Is it true? Can someone attend the recent info session validate this?
For those who have interviewed, were you able to blur your background on the MMI platform?
Unfortunately don't have a clear, empty room, so I just want to plan accordingly. Thanks!

You can! If I remember correctly there is a small drag down icon on the camera icon that allows for blurring background

I think people are saying this since their interview season ends in December, and the people who have received the most recent interview invites say that they could only schedule them for the end of December, so likely they have already filled their slots and will no longer be scheduling interviews after Thanksgiving.
sorry if this has been answered before but i'm still kind of unclear on this - if you've received a CR post-interview, then from that point on will you either hear an A at some point or a W in the spring? as in, no further CR emails or Rs?
Did anyone else get a 10k a year stipend? Wondering how common this is...

Did you already get the A and stipend offer this cycle?

Well thats sorta close. Essentially if you got a CR post interview, what that means is the committee reviewed your app but isn't able to make a decision. In Nov/Dec/Jan they periodically make acceptances from that pool. Once they have filled the Acceptance pool with their target number (Like 160?) then two things happen, either you get waitlisted or rejected. Most people will get rejected cuz they dont see a point in waitlisting hundreds of people for maybe 30 spots.
So to answer the question, no, most people in CR currently will ultimately be rejected because they have a 20% interview-> admit rate. A few lucky souls may be waitlisted but given how shit this cycle is, I doubt many will turn down an offer at NYU, meaning the Waitlist to A rate will be low. But im sure thats always been the case since they went tuition free.
