As far as LCME standards go, there are systems in place to support students in the event that a medical school can no longer host student for education. There is a lot of uncertainty around the process, but at least for me, I take it as a sign of comfort almost that a non-partisan organization can be this strict with their standards no matter the institution and guarantee that a student's efforts don't go to waste. Speculations are easy to form in all of this uncertainty, but most likely students that attend Belmont will graduate with an MD and match into residency, no matter the circumstance.
A lot of other factors go into this decision like board scores, sub-I's, letters of recommendation, etc. I say all this as someone whose only MD II so far is from this school, and has tried to prepare for my upcoming interview in the wake of all the criticism surrounding the institution so far. I'll do my best to ascertain if and how students feel supported during my interview as well. But just putting it out there for others that may be in a similar situation to mine. I have hope that we're all gonna make it :)
