this is my top choice school and feeling incredibely dejected that I got waitlisted even with a high post ii to A conversion rate. Does anyone have any advice to feel better about this waitlist? Any hope? I really want to get in
Their post-II acceptance rate is honestly fairly low if you’re OOS, like 25% no?

25% matriculation rate, so the A rate should be a bit higher
When is 10/19 expected to hear
For anyone who has already interviewed, I found the description of the interview process in the email a bit confusing. Is the interview assessment similar to Casper, and is that considered the MMI portion? Is the virtual information session actually the MMI portion or is it just a group discussion? Thanks for any clarification you can provide!

Why would it be so low for OOS if it's a private school?

It is essentially a two part interview. The online interview assessment is through a third-party, Kira Talent. It is a "one-way" MMI interview in which you watch a video of a faculty member or student asking a question, have two minutes to gather thoughts, and five minutes to record a response. It can be tricky because you have to talk for five minutes straight with no follow-ups and no interviewer to look at or glean body language from, but it's very doable. So yes, I would say it was very Casper-esque MMI without the added stress of the short time limit. The greatest redeeming factor of it in my opinion was that you had to select that you were ready for the next question yourself (there is no timer between questions as far as I can recall) so you can pace yourself and take a few minutes between questions to recalibrate, take a small break, breathe, and think about what you may be able to improve or enhance for your next response.
The virtual session was mostly information sessions with a 25-30 minute team-based MMI question in the middle that was just a breakout room and had someone listening while 5-6 interviewees discussed a single prompt given at the beginning--so more discussion than true MMI. I actually really liked this part, I wouldn't sweat it.
You got this!
P.S. I didn't think I did phenomenal on the Kira virtual interview, but was incredibly satisfied with my group interview portion and was ultimately accepted last week, so don't get down on yourself if you feel like you could have done better. Just focus on being prepared and doing the best you can.

I’m not sure. But in terms of interview -> matriculation rate, it is 34% (49/143 of 1017 verified applications) for IS compared to 25% (145/575 of 11711 verified applications) for OOS. Maybe they try to keep some IS around to avoid losing their own students because of super low IS rates.

I think net post-II A is around 50%, but Wake takes about 30% of their class off of the waitlist, so the round of decisions that follows interviews is lower than that 50%. They interview close to 600 OOS applicants and matriculate about 150-155 of them or so (I believe they save around 45 seats for NC residents specifically)
For reference, and because I think you may find it interesting (I saw this reported on last year's forum), the current WFUSM incoming class GroupMe is at 84 members, and I would wager that there are probably a few who haven't joined. So they have probably filled about half of the class on paper thus far.

Last year the highest I saw the group me be reported at was a little over 200, so they def aren’t super generous with offers over the ideal class size. Totally understand that people might just not join the group me though lol
