Active status is the list they put everyone that doesn't get a direct acceptance on. It's basically a fancy name for waitlist

Ok that makes sense thank you! They never said anything about this when I interviewed and I felt like they were pretty transparent with how the process would look but these past few days have started to make me feel differently about their transparency lol
