Select your mission interest below (you may only select one). Once you have selected your mission, you will have the opportunity to make a selection for campus placement consideration.

General Mission

The General Mission of the University of Minnesota Medical School (UMMS) is to be a leader in enhancing the health of people through the education of skilled, compassionate and socially responsible physicians. The UMMS is dedicated to preeminent primary care medicine, exemplary specialty care and innovative research.

Twin Cities Campus

Rural Health Mission

The Rural Health Mission will also assess for evidence and understanding of rural communities and Greater Minnesota. Applicants are encouraged to reflect on how their background, values, and career goals align with the mission to serve and advocate for underserved rural populations.

Duluth & St. Cloud Campuses

Indigenous Health Mission

The Indigenous Health Mission will also assess for an understanding of the importance of providing culturally appropriate and culturally competent healthcare to Indigenous populations. Applicants are encouraged to reflect on how their background, values, and career goals align with the mission to serve and advocate for Indigenous communities.

Duluth & Twin Cities Campuses

Please select one of these pillars that resonates most deeply with your journey. Describe a specific experience where you demonstrated this value in action and explain how that experience has prepared you to enhance the health of Minnesotans. (1500 characters)

How would you contribute to a learning environment that respects and supports individuals with a wide range of identities, perspectives, and life experiences? Please share specific examples from your professional and/or personal background that demonstrate your ability to work effectively with people from varied communities. (1500 Characters)

Describe a time when you received significant constructive feedback or encountered a setback that challenged your perception of your abilities. How did you respond to this situation, and how has this experience changed your approach to learning and self-improvement? (1500 Characters)

Considering the University of Minnesota Medical School’s mission and strengths, why is this specific geographic and clinical environment the right place for your medical education? (1500 Characters)

(Optional) Is there any additional information you would like the Admissions Committee to know that was not covered elsewhere in your application or recent experiences not included in your AMCAS submission? (1500 Characters)
