For anyone who gets a secondary and sees it is way too long and wants to not do it. My advice is you don’t have to Max out the Word count. I only wrote about 40% of the count and got in last cycle. Seems like the content matters more. I also had to write the MPH essays so I really didn’t wanna write that much.

wait I got the secondary but theres no character count limit...what do we think is reasonable?

I think it was 5000 in the past so I think they're ok with it being fairly long. I did between 3500-4000ish. Just to the point where I covered everything that I wanted to cover.

just answer the question to your best ability and when you feel like you have added enough content and thoroughly showcased why your interested in that school then your good do not overthink it. People have gotten in writing 1500 some 3000 and some 4999 there is no magic number. Quality > Quantity worst case.

can be anywhere from 3.5k to the max and still get interviews as someone who got an II here. remember to make it mission oriented they love ppl who focus on advancing the medical landscape and making UM the most advanced org in miami

Oh shoot i did not, I just did like 2 sentences oh man

Last year it was only 200 characters so I was confused lol. But I made it longer just in case because they didn't put a limit this time🤔

I kept mine super short since it was 200-250 characters last year I think. I wrote about 400 characters

i think ur fine. i have 1000 characters but that's because i picked 3 interests. since the character count was 200 last year i assume they don't want smth super long

I'm still waiting. I emailed them yesterday about it but nothing yet. I was going to call them but I don't see a number to call.

They are pretty bad at communication from what I've experienced and seen.

Yea it's frustrating that people are gonna start getting interviews soon and I still haven't even gotten a secondary . And this was one of my top schools.

is anyone under review yet? I added another LOR to meet their requirements, and I was going to send them an email update, but since my app still says complete and not under review, do you think it's fine if I just leave it since they probably haven't seen my app yet? i also submitted early on 7/2

Has anyone asked about how strict they are with "All science coursework must be completed at a 4-year (bachelor’s degree-granting) institution as described above." I did physics and one biology lab at community college, before transferring. I find it strange they accept AP but not CC.
