They do but the admission team said pretty explicitly that its only for major updates like getting publications and/or completely new experiences.

ya if you listen to the dean's interview on an admissions podcast, she says update letters don't do too much

all imma say is i got my ii post update letter and it was quoted in all of my track specific interviews. it was nothing special (really just that i got published) and def don't send one if it is "im doing what i said I would" but don't hesitate to send one if it is meaningful.

What about letter of intent or interest letters?

idk about intent. i do not think they accept letters of interest but could be wrong

You can see this info on MSAR for all schools, but for UMass, they only take updates, not intent or interest
