Per SDN, sounds like some people who interviewed 9/24 were accepted, but a lot of people who interviewed before then or on that day still haven't heard back

saw someone who interviewed on 10/24 and heard back. week later on SDN. I interviewed on 10/15 and haven't heard anything yet so far, so I'm not sure if they have a particular order (or at least, I don't think its dependent on when u interviewed and more so just how high or low you are on their internal ranking system based on interview + application).

I think it's safe to say they arent strictly moving in chronological order and that it's useless to try to gauge based on that. I interviewed on 9/8 and still haven't heard anything. Protect your peace y'all.

yeah i interviewed 9/30 and am convinced they haven’t gotten back to me cause they’re planning on rejecting me lol. Does anyone know if IS vs OOS plays a role in this?

how long after getting the "you are eligible for in-state tuition" email did anyone hear back for an II (or R)?

Still no love from UMass:( Secondary submitted end of July. Anyone else in a similar boat? Thought my stats were good and I'm in state. Still some time left, but I can't help but wonder why I haven't gotten an II. I guess there's no such thing as a safety!

1 month later for an II for me, 3 days after secondary submission. not sure if its an indicator of anything or just something they do for all IS applicants.

Same exact situation, felt pretty good about my stats and as an IS with really strong ties to the area (of worcester specifically!) I am stumped. I'm assuming it must be my writing. I'm hoping every day as it honestly is my top choice if I get it.

2.5 months pre-II....about a week following secondary submission.

Are we allowed to send meaningful updates like a research publication and other volunteering stuff post II?

i think they generally discourage update letters bc they don't factor them into the decision but i remember them saying bigger updates (like a publication) would be good to add into the portal :)

for those of you that got an invite to interview, how far out was the actual interview date? it seems like they potentially give different dates depending on how much they like you? or so ive heard...

I got an invite on 10/2, and they scheduled me for January - I figured they did not like me that much LOL.

damn that's actually really weird, because i got an invite 12/3 and could book as early as 12/6...i might ask on the main thread to see if this is a theme or if they just possibly added more interview slots later into the cycle?

you def should!! I honestly just think that they liked me enough to want to interview, but not enough to have to do it sooner lol - I'm glad you have the option to interview earlier though!! I will say that I am also interviewing for a specific track as well, and the woman who helped me schedule told me that ideally both interviews would be done close to one another, so it's possible that factored in. But honestly my guess is just that my app is very average and so they're probably holding off. Just grateful I have an interview at all!!!

uk what it may be due to the second coinciding interview they need!! i feel like that would make a lot of sense. i'm sure your app is excellent for them to even offer you an interview! best of luck <3

at the end of our interview session someone asked about update letters and the dean person said that they typically give the guidance that it's not worth it to submit them if the update letter is just expressing intent / interest bc they aren't considered when deciding on the application. she did say that updating the committee on things like publications or new jobs would be helpful.

this is just what i remember though so if anyone heard differently from their interview definitely correct me haha

Just want to let everyone who interviewed early know that, I recently watched a seminar from the current Dean of Admissions talking about the VISTA curriculum. And she stated that they are moving away from extending admissions on a rolling basis and are trying to wait and see how their applicant pool shapes up before extending admissions. So that might be why some people aren't hearing back yet. But that doesn't mean anything about your application or interview. They're just trying to implement a new system as they have been gradually increasing seats to diversify their student pool. Hope that makes some people feel more at ease even though the wait is agony! :)

Does this apply to people who submitted early and haven’t received interviews as well? Or only for people that interviewed and haven’t heard back

Random, but quick question. When you click the withdraw button on the portal, does it ask you to confirm? Almost clicked it - had a panic attack...

Yes I've done the same thing! It does confirm again before changing your status, so you should be good

It was a zoom meeting that I attended but she kind of gives the same sort of information in this youtube video as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lx77U6vJSyk

Hope that helps!

I'm assuming it's only for people who interviewed and haven't heard back because previously they were sending out acceptances within a set timeline and now they are changing it. You should check out this youtube video, it might offer a bit more clarity for you about their internal processes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lx77U6vJSyk it does go pretty in depth into all the other premed stuff so if you're only interested in post application processes, they talk about it briefly towards the end of the video. Wishing you the good luck for your cycle! It'll all turn out well!
