Is it frowned upon to use the same essays I used last year? I know that the "what have you been doing" essay is new but do they expect us to change our essays from this last cycle too? I feel like I barely came up short of getting in so I don't see much to change.

I am in the same situation. Ended up single digits away on the WL. Obviously, I wrote new essays for the new prompts. For the repeat ones, I am keeping the same essays. I tweaked and/or updated them lightly. Not saying I am right. In fact, it feels risky. However, I am really proud of those essays, and they are very genuine, so I don't know if I could come up with totally new essays and feel the same about them.

I tweaked a little for better wording but basically same thing. for the update i just wrote what i have been up to for the last few months and what my plans are for the next year

Is anyone else struggling with the Why UGA essay? They don't have many programs/student groups/community engagement/research departments on their website.

I would say go off the AU/UGA website and try to pull information from there. Also I would look at the global health department and veterinary medicine website too for reasons.

Did anyone who went/goes to UGA for UG? If so can you comment on the student experience there? I've heard some interesting stories about what goes down in Athens.

4. A lot of money in scholarships and research

5. Football powerhouse (yes this matters!)

The first class already had 514 MCAT median. And I thought it would be less competitive than MCG :(.

If you’re around a 508+ and, more importantly, a Georgia resident, I think you’ll be given careful consideration for sure.

Should I use the same essays almost verbatim for both UGA and MCG? Since they are separate schools, it should be fine, right?

They’ll never know but these are your state schools bro (I’m assuming if you’re applying to mcg), so don’t be lazy and try hard on these ones

the timeline on the site shows interviews starting in Oct. So maybe IIs will start in Sept???

lmao I didn't know UGA posted on their website until that user sent it otherwise I was still following the AAMC stuff but it makes more sense to follow the school's timeline because it's the most accurate data, no? lol

Yes, it does make most sense to follow the school directly. However my understanding of that AAMC link is that schools responded to a survey providing that info. Also, sending II’s on the 15th to start actually giving interviews in Oct (as specified on their website) isn’t unreasonable given the scheduling process. So I wouldn’t say the two pieces of info necessarily conflict. But I guess we’ll see Saturday!

Actually, after looking at the website more closely (exact language pasted below), I'd correct myself and say that II's going out soon (maybe tomorrow, who knows) will probably be for ED applicants, while I'd guess that RD II's won't go out until September.

Can someone confirm this? IDK if anyone else is having this issue, but my portal doesn't have the supplemental questions for some reason **nervous laughs** soooo they gotta fix it.
