2025-2026 ThreadRegarding clinical rotations at UCF, do students have a say in what sites they rotate at? Is it possible to remain in the Orlando area? How do students feel about the quality of training at HCA sites? Thanks!

Clinical rotations at UCF are very stressful, and you don't learn AS much at hospitals like HCA due to their egregious for-profit structure, but hey! They have rocket ships and fireworks!

Aw man that is disappointing! Do you know if that includes their new home hospital as well? I really like their facilities and I think the M1/2 part of their program is great but the HCA rotations are giving me pause...

would not choose this school over similarly ranked schools (As someone who got an A and withdrew after speaking to many students not cherry picked by admin for the admin-supervised Q&A) Hope this gives you a spot tho!

Current student here: you get to rank your preferences (ie. what order you want to do rotations and what sites) and they try to optimize for everyone's preferences. Generally almost every student rotates at sites exclusively in Orlando in their third year. 4th year you do a lot of electives, so some people choose a lot of away rotations, not even renting a place in Orlando, but most only do a few away rotations and generally stay in Orlando. Overall, you get a lot of choice and input into what rotations you want to do here! Good luck :)

Thank you so much! Does that mean students can rotate in/near Lake Nona for the most part? As far as I can tell all the Orlando sites are like right next to the COM lol
And by away rotations do you mean audition sites?
I appreciate your help!

Yes away = audition.
Like 70 maybe 80% of your time in rotations are in lake Nona area hospitals yes.

Is this the same as HCA? Do they have a bad rep?

HCA is one of 3 hospitals in Lake Nona. Everybody does pediatrics at Nemours and the last one is the VA. You could rank a non-HCA hospital if you're that worried about it. But at least at HCA Lake Nona, I haven't heard people complaining much about it. I have heard mild complaints about other HCAs, but it's more location and specialty specific as far as I'm aware. (I am still preclinical so I don't have personal experience)

I also received merit aid offer last week. I was accepted back in late November.
How soon after the date of ur committee review do people usually get their decisions? I understand they mentioned 1-3 days but I'm just wondering for those that interviewed here earlier this cycle, has it usually been the day after, the full 3 days after, etc? Thanks

Hope so man that's awesome. My committee review date is today hahah and I'm so nervous im terrified
Will they tell those of us on the WL which portion of the third we are on? For example, top 1/2 of top 1/3 or bottom 1/2 of middle 1/3, etc?
Anybody know how likely it is to get off the wait list. They sent me this. Your application is in theĀ middleĀ one-third of a list of 159 Florida applicants. Thank you!

WL acceptances have been historically very high: they would almost always get through the top 1/3, maybe some of middle 1/3, and occasionally into the bottom 1/3.
However last year almost every med school in the country had VERY little waitlist movement, UCF included. Last year they didn't get through the entire top 1/3. If last year was a fluke then everybody in the top 1/3 should be accepted this year.
However if that becomes the new norm, only part of the top 1/3 will be accepted.

Does it vary in how much they get through OOS vs IS WL? Do they get thru further in one than the other usually or no? Also, why do you think WL movement was minimal last year?

No idea why it was different last year. OOS and IS are entirely separate lists. Anecdotally, I think IS has less movement because the low cost of attendance gets more people to commit, but I have absolutely zero evidence to back that up.
