Received this email: "SIU School of Medicine conducts a preliminary review of applications before sending any secondary application materials. Be advised that not everyone who applies will be given the opportunity to complete these. In fact, only about one in three applicants is invited to continue the admissions process from this point. Our Admissions Committee will make a decision regarding your application as soon as possible (please allow about 6 weeks, from the date of this email, for this to happen)."
I love that SIU prescreens. Saves applicants $ and time by only moving forward with candidates that have a chance. Hoping to be the "1 in 3"!

+1 IS secondary. I've heard like 99% of people who submit the secondary get an interview. Is this true?

They pre-screen before sending secondaries. Only around 1/3 of people get it. They specifically take into account: "Area of residence, with preference given to central and southern Illinois residents and those from rural, inner-city, or disadvantaged backgrounds"
