Does RWJ do merit-based aid? Or only need-based?

I know there’s nothing we can do. But seriously what can we do?? Haha. I’m going absolutely crazy.

I don’t know if it’s worth sending some email even though they usually hate that

So me. Every time I see RWJ come up on the live tracking, I jump.

I cant tell if it’s sampling bias or if it’s truly so bad for Jersey this year. Like sure I’m seeing it, but it’s probably not true. I like to cope though.

This was the email I had received on May 1st last year:

The Office of Admissions is reaching out to communicate our process for high-priority list candidates. Currently the class is full, however we do anticipate movement in the class as accepted students begin to notify us of their intended matriculation to a school other than RWJMS. These notifications usually occur after May 2nd in the late spring or early summer months.

RWJMS has a subcommittee that creates a rank order list of high-priority candidates based on application review. This committee meets in late April and during the month of May to prepare their list. They find it helpful to know that you are still interested in RWJMS. Please feel free to upload a note of interest or an update directly into the application portal (the admissions committee does not accept letters of intent). If you wish to be removed from the high priority list and withdraw your application, please email us at [email protected].

RWJMS is committed to following the AAMC choose your medical school guidelines. We would like to remind you that you are permitted to remain on alternate lists, and we will still consider you for admission to RWJMS even if you have selected “plan to enroll” at a school for which you have been offered admission. We are unable to consider you for admission to RWJMS if you have selected the “commit to enroll” option for another school.

Then this on June 1st:

It is the time in the application cycle when we try to determine the likelihood of accepting students from the alternate lists.  We regret to inform you that we do not anticipate offering any acceptances to the majority of applicants in our high-priority category.  We know that this is not the news you want to hear.  We do hope that you are successful at another medical school; however, if not, we hope this early notification helps you formulate plans for the upcoming year.  If you find you are applying again, please do let us know. We wish you the best will all your next steps.

Looks like they are more transparent this year. They kept us hanging for a whole month last year.

Weird this email today only said ‘alternate list’ and not anything about high priority despite being on the HPWL

was probably sent to all waitlisted applicants regardless of high priority status since they don't anticipate any spots opening up.

Please withdraw your application if you are no longer planning on attending. 😥 This is my top-choice school and I’m currently on the HPWL!
