Anyone else get the update email saying they have 15000 applicants this year and that they are going to be slow?

Yes, I'm not sure it really means anything though. I think they are just trying to be transparent

They always send out decisions 2 weeks and 2 days after interviews (they interview on wednesdays, decisions on fridays)

Does anyone have any insight on a significance of a interview at Rush? I've heard that everyone gets a blank slate at interview stage, also if you did interview how did you do?

Interviewed at Rush recently. I felt it went pretty good but we shall wait and see. Interview was very conversational and I more so felt they wanted to learn about me, my motivations for applying rather than asking grilling questions. At interview day, RUSH did mention that getting an interview is a big step and that someone on the their committee sees you coming to their school and that's why you got invited. Admit's stats on RUSH seem to support they are careful with who they invite and I felt they emphasize mission fit. I am not sure about the significance of the interview at RUSH but other adcoms I have talked to have said that the interview is another component to your overall application. So maybe admissions committee meet again and the entire committee reviews your entire application before deciding. I guess that's why some people can have good/bad interviews but get rejected/accepted and vice versa.

Has anyone who got the "next stage" email, received an interview yet? Should I even have any hope over this school now?

I didn't get the "next stage" I got the "we are interviewing so many applicants this may take a while" version of that lol and have not heard anything. If I had to guess the "next stages" one would be the one most likely to? but who knows. I think there really is absolutely no way of knowing and I have tried to keep my expectations indifferent rather than particularly high or particularly low.

yes! got the email and 2 weeks later got the II.

I received the next stage email and no II yet… not sure what’s gonna happen here. Rush is my top choice school so I REALLY hope I get one

Has anyone had success in submitting a LOI or update letter to rush this cycle? I am so terrified of just being rejected immediately after as ive heard this horror story from so many people. I do have recent service experience and knowing that that is so important to rush I would love to update them, but not at the risk of them rejecting me immediately after.

I sent an update letter at the beginning of November lol and haven't heard a thing from them....I did receive the "next stage" email at the end of October, so hopefully the update letter helps me at some point

same thing with me and also send update about two weeks after the email. havent heard anything else from them tho

Is Rush actually 110th in rankings?

admit rankings dont mean anything. considering they have top ortho and neuro programs amongst others i wouldnt take the 110 too seriously. after t30 the ranking is not accurate here

They also tied NW for #1 hospital in the state. You can’t tell me a school like Rosalind Franklin that doesn’t even have a hospital is ranked higher lol

I got one in October too, but it was slightly different from this one. I’m wondering if everyone gets two emails and that’s just standard, but since a lot of Rs went out today, I just thought maybe it meant something (probably not though I’m just delusional LOL)

What was the difference between the emails? Cuz I know some people received different emails in October as well. Some got an email saying they advanced to the next stage and others got an email informing them that applications were taking a long time to process. Was it those 2 emails that you got?

They were honestly very similarly worded, pretty much saying the same thing. The first one said we are currently assessing your app, and that it might take awhile bc there’s 15,000 apps. This one said “presently reviewing” my app, and that it could take time because of the volume. No new info at all.

It probably just means that they just got to your application and are evaluating it right now. I wouldn't look into it too deeply. Hopefully it ends in an A!

I mean respectfully, what is there to question? I think it's giving updates to a cycle that's a bit delayed this year. If you haven't been rejected, you're still in the running.

well why give an update at this point, just send an interview or reject the person, they have to wrap up the admissions cycle soon. Might as well just finish the review and send out the last interviews, why inform the person that they cleared the review process?

Well they also said they do stop interviewing at the end of February. So maybe one more wave of interview invites at the end of the month since they recently sent out II?

Can anyone provide more insight on the interview? I'm hearing mixed reviews; some that it's just to converse and others, that it was quite strict and formal "rapid-fire" questions that even involves scenario/ethics. Very nervous!

In my experience, it was pretty conversational. It's an open interview. Make sure you know why you specifically want to go to Rush! Good luck!

submitted a heavily targeted LOCI to rush last night. Ive been getting all "youre being considered for interview" emails so i really hope they'd send me SOMETHING. Its cruel af to be told since late October youre being considered for an interview and still get rejected

I remember people receiving updates on their application statuses at different times throughout the same day, so they may be doing the same thing with interviews. However, I am not 100% certain if that is the case.
