Has anyone attended the PHSU open houses? They don't seem to be MD program specific. Is it worth traveling for?

I went without expecting it to have a considerable impact on getting accepted. I went to see what St. Louis and the school was like, to get a vibe of the building and faculty, and maybe get a shot at the scholarship.

I had an alright time. Faculty was nice, got to check a cadaver and talk to one of the admissions people, asked a bunch of questions to her and a student ambassador that was next to her, and had to visit each table to get a ticket/sticker thing from each before turning in my attendance card to be entered for the scholarship raffle.

The building was new and modern, I liked the facilities, and visiting St Louis made me realise the place is a lot better than the reputation I've heard it had. I'd move to St Louis and attend the school if given the chance based just on the open house. So if you've got questions and want to find out if the school and city would fit you then go but I wouldn't put weight on it swaying acceptance odds.

Their admin does need some work tho. They botched interview scheduling this year which forced me (and from what I heard from staff) other interviewees to reschedule our live interviews. Also, interviews are both live (1 on 1, mine was just 1 question) and 3-5 asynchronous questions. Both portions have to be scheduled to be done on the same day. There wasn't a presentation or PowerPoint or anything like that for the interview day with this school like I've had with other schools, which was kind of disappointing since the school for once didn't try to promote themselves but instead it felt more job- interview like.

anyone know if the class is full yet since there are only 32 seats?

Nice, when did you find out and was it portal or email?

Portal has been down for a while, i got an email stating i was being invited for an interview. Funny enough im still in the program. And to answer the first question i found out a week before my interview, it honestly shocked me as I was not expecting to be interviewed.

Oh wow, I was thinking about doing it if I didn't get in. How recent was the interview or did you do it in the fall?

I'll make sure to keep an eye out on my email then, I just thought the portal wasn't working on my end!
