Hey everyone, I was put on hold post-II. Is that basically a waitlist?

Sounds more like a deferral? I wish they elaborated more

crickets since my interview on 10/23 and I was told 6-8 weeks. would it be bad to email asking for an update? or should I just continue to wait?

When I interviewed around that time previously, I found out at the end of Jan. I’d wait until this Friday before reaching out. good luck

Man penn state really decided to rub it in that they rejected me, I got my rejection in November and they sent another rejection this morning 😅
I survived another rejection wave, no pre interview hold, am I just waiting for inevitable rejection at this point? submitted early Aug

Lol if you're withdrawing no need to worry about the right way to go about it bc they can't reject you for it regardless. An email would suffice

you have to send them an email. They'll confirm once they receive it.
has the waitlist started moving yet?

I think ive seen like 2 or 3 people say theyve gotten off hold, but it seems to be slow rn. I if ur not accepted off hold by April 30th you get put on the actual waitlist.

Anyone gotten an interview from the "Continue to review hold category"? I got this email back in October and haven't heard anything since.
if I withdraw from this school after being put on hold post interview, would it be held against me if I end up reapplying in a future cycle? I had a bad interview experience here

That's a problem. One of my interviewers was condescending and borderline unresponsive to my questions. They even ignored me at one point. I left feeling terrible. Not to mention the reviews of this school online is not good and the students seem unhappy. If I am going to be somewhere for the next 4 years, I rather it be at a place where I will be happy. I regret not checking reddit before adding Penn State to my list. I interviewed at another school where the students were happy and it was clear the administration cared about their students. I have a friend that goes there and they love it there. That should be the standard

I agree, but I don't think it's worth reapplying. Its possible its the only school you get in. I had the same experience. My interviewer was a surgeon and it seemed like she did not care at all. The other guy was a bit better but it seemed like they were forced to talk to me.
At the end of the day, reapplying is prob worse

do you know the answer to my original question by chance? I am on the WL for another school and am waiting for a decision from a 3rd, both that I like better. I would rather delay starting med school for a year then end up at a place I would be unhappy at for 4 years

I don't but its risky. Also, an interview doesn't mean that the whole school is bad. It is your decision, but not sure if its worth another whole cycle. Thats hella bread and another year of no attending money technically

No it wouldn't be held against you. You would likely only be asked if you were previously accepted not interviewed. I do however think withdrawing would be foolish unless you really don't mind waiting another year.
No Pre-II hold, no rejection, but no interview. I wish they’d just let my application go if they have no intention of sending me an II.

I am curious how they decide who to reject early. Maybe their AI flagged them? They stated they do use Ai to review apps

I interviewed before they I guess publicly stated they are using AI. They told me it’s a scoring system so maybe the AI releases apps below a certain score? who knows really

I got rejected early with a 3.8/525 lol. Idk how it works. My app is decently strong, I am committed to a t10 now
