What's the tea? Chill interview?
Not OP but had interview a few weeks ago. Overall, very chill but had one interviewer who was a bit more serious. Otherwise, pretty good. The med school interviewer was low key and straight up said that they wanna make sure you're not a psycho

So 3 interviews and they all specialized/had background in different parts of my app. First was faculty asked more specifically about research (they research the same topic), involvement, etc, moderately conversational. Second was super super chill like the chillest T20 interview I've had as a whole, it was actually like small talking to a family friend; he made it obvious he just wanted to see my personality. Third was a student interview, they had a list of the generic interview questions like why medicine, why feinberg, etc. Chill enough bc its a student and it was all questions you'll have already answered many times. No curveballs at all throughout the whole interview. Just know findings/diff parts of your research well for the first part.

me too, i really hope we both get it. been wanting feinberg #1 since before I even started writing my apps
I want to echo what was said in this chat prior to any prospective applicants/future interviewees. I think this will be one of your better interview experiences. Your interviewers will have something in common with you (most likely), and they are short and quick interviews that seem to be 50% vibe check and 50% general interview styles (if you have a concrete reason to pursue medicine, are thinking about what you want to do in medicine, what you have done, if you would thrive at Northwestern, etc.). I typically don't like information sessions on interview days (maybe it was good in person, but on Zoom, it is forced like literally I will spend 123045813248 hours reading into your school if you let me in), but I could feel more positivity radiating from Northwestern. The students, the staff, the faculty, they all seemed to be energetic and the presentations were well-designed. I don't know how well I did, but I certainly feel like Northwestern did a great job.

You really summed it up well. I attended a town hall tonight, and it had that same energy from the info session.

For those who have interviewed, does anyone remember when in December they'll do the first wave? Was it just early December, or were there specific days they mentioned? I remember they said that 10-15% of people were gonna be accepted and the rest deferred to March.

They just said early December, but I looked at previous years on SDN and I'm estimating December 4th.
Do we know when the last interview date that is eligible is? Also, did they say the post II rate on interview day? Seems like they increased IIs last year

Yup. I'm 80% certain it will be Thursday, maybe Friday.
Has anyone gotten deferred already? Saw some As come through so was wondering if I should wait for calls or just be resigned to a deferral :((((

Why? :(
are we supposed to get confirmation email today for A

Why? :(
no phone calls for the past 40 minutes (live cycle results you are seeing past 5 are people updating admit later than they receive the call). deferral email will go out any minute now, i suspect within 30 minutes (strongly)

I was told by my person that emails would be sent out by 4:30 but I didn't get any confirmation yet and my portal hasn't changed.

I think it’s safe to say that deferred = soft R. If you look at last year’s results, if you were an applicant who interviewed early and were not accepted in the first wave, your chances fell off a cliff. The majority of them got waitlisted and never came off it.

Are you looking at the admit data from last year? I think the sample size is too small to say that.

The sample size is decent, especially when you look at cycletrack as well. If they didn't like my application and interview compared to other early applicants, I don't see how being compared to an even larger body of applicants will help me for the February/March round.

Definitely not a soft R. Chances go down I’m sure, but I don’t think that much. I read ~80% of interviewees get deferred.

Info session after interview said 10-15% get accepted and the rest are deferred who were eligible for today's decision

They interview through mid-February I believe, so they probably do still have interviews to give out

Like many people this is my absolute top choice school. I fit their stats so I don't think its unreasonable to hope to for an interview. I already sent an update letter with some significant updates at the end of October. Would it be appropriate to send a strong letter of interest as well? Or should I just leave it up to the admission gods and pray?

Definitely not
Were any admitted students able to apply for financial aid? I saw the deadline of 1/15/25 which makes me wonder if it should be 1/15/26, but I can't access the forms on the website.
