if you don't mind sharing, what are the secondary prompts? are they the same as last year's prompts?

Is there any reason to worry about accreditation, local affiliated rotations, access to research, or match rates with Methodist? It seems like they have great local support but I always worry with newer programs

I think this school is unique because they are with Cape Fear, which has residents/fellowship training and the PA school already

This is what their Secondary Application Instructions doc says, including the questions and a note on AI usage.

Four Essays: Applicants are encouraged to formulate their responses before beginning the secondary application. Each essay should be no more than 200 words; the optional question is limited to 150 words.

How's it going so far? Any tips for secondaries? What has surprised you the most? Just trying to get a general feel of the program's organization and student support overall

- The school focuses on community service a lot. Highlighting that in your secondary will help.

- Bootcamp was okay, it's a new school, so there were things students/professors needed to improve on. Such as expectations, content being covered, etc.

- All the professors are super nice. Dean Bell really is amazing. There are a lot of students from outside of NC, so it was good to welcome them here (I'm biased)

- Surprised by the community's support. A lot of the community organizations (Baseball Team, Cape Fear Valley Health, Local Schools/Colleges) have embraced us and offered to assist in whatever capacity they can.

Interesting. I haven’t attended bootcamp but was curious in knowing exactly what you think was good/could be better? Do you think it was helpful to attend?

It was worth my time to attend. I needed the refreshers on biochem , immuno, etc. we had a practice exam on Friday (yesterday) to similar a med school exam.

What could be better: clear expectations of what we need to know for exams (it was kind of confusing !)

Not too much homework 😂 we had a lot of reading.

But overall it was manageable! I liked it!

Wouldn't necessarily agree with this, given that even some established DO schools do not have clinical partnerships with large healthcare systems that have established residency programs. If they do have a partnership, they are likely sharing it with a MD institution anyways.

Basically everything the other person already said. I think the biggest thing is to just be yourself. Don't try to give them the answers you think they want to hear; give them the answers that are authentic to you.
