Mayo is launching an exciting Masters of Science in Applied Medical Humanities, which is available for free (due to benefactor funding) as a dual degree option for Mayo med students! Great news for all the humanity folk out there. It’s also possible to complete it within the normal 4 year medical school timeline.

This is part of a larger push to expand the Humanities here, and is separate from the Humanities distinction track, or the Humanities events and Selective opportunities.

I got mine in early January, and I know several others who got theirs early January too. Still lots of time! :)

Very few people get one, but yes all campuses can send.

Are they still sending out II's (for people on hold)?

I know last year there were no reports after mid-November.

According to their website, it looks like interviews continue into December too. They don't specify if that includes those on hold

admissions stated that we are assigned a committee score after interviews... for a very few whose scores are super high, mayo sends them a high rank email indicating their interest.

How are the alumni talks? Mostly conversational or will I be grilled with scenario/behavioral type questions? I have mine coming up and I am tired and stressed :(

I can only speak on my own experience but my chat was super low stress and casual. Idk if this is the case for everyone but we didn’t even go over the situational questions, and if we did, then I didn’t notice because we were just having a normal conversation lol. You’ll do great!!

This is the second year in a row that Mayo has given every medical student $500 as a Christmas gift. Go to a medical school that cares about you and is happy to have you! :)

when does mayo send highly ranked leetters?

From several months ago, all the way through mid January.

The vast majority of people will not receive them. A huge number of accepted people will also not receive them.

@MrMacrophage, Thank you for your insights into Mayo Clinic! I did have a question on admissions and was wondering if you could answer it.

If we are still on interview hold and have not received anything from Mayo, should we just expect to be rejected at this point in the cycle or is there still hope?

I was put on pre-II hold in September, and today I received an email saying, "Thank you for applying to our school and the time you have invested in this process. Although we were impressed with your background and experiences, we are not able to offer you an interview." Is this a rejection, or just a statement that they don't have an interview spot for me? Are applicants ever accepted without an interview?

This is their form of a rejection I believe. On their website as well, it says they send interview invites from August to November.

got the R today. Was put on pre-II hold and sent an update letter as well, in case that’s helpful for future applicants!

Does this mean Mayo is officially done with their cycle? No more interviews, their class is set?

I attended their info/welcome session on 12/1 and I think they mentioned something that this would be their last session :(
