For those with A's it happened the week following they were sent pretty consistently over the last few years.

the week following oct 15? yeah it looks like oct/nov are the A months for them

they release decisions monthly on the 15th. They released their first batch of As on the 15th but they snail mail so some wont even get the letters until Monday or later. Those who live at college or are away from their mailing address would see the update Wednesday or so.

Has anyone not gotten a letter yet but seen an update in their portal?

I haven't gotten a letter or had an update in my portal.

For those who have already interviewed, how long did it take in the portal for the Letters of References and Prerequisites Mets boxes to be checked and for them to reach out to actually schedule, after the initial invite?

I received my interview invite August 11th and didn't receive an actual interview date until 9/8. I interviewed on 10/8. They didn't check off my prerequisites and letters of reference until the week of my interview. They're SO slow.

I interviewed today, and I know that As are only sent out on 15th, do we think theres any chance I could hear back Nov 15th, or do we think Dec at the earliest. Additionally, do they send out rejections at all, or is it just acceptances and then a rejection over the summer. I just need peace of mind that Im going to school next year lol.

Not sure if you'd hear back for the Nov 15th A's, but the forums sound like if you interview then you don't get rejected until the summer...

There is very little way of knowing. I know people last year who interviewed in November and heard back by December, and others who interviewed in October and did not hear back until March. It isn't rolling so they are going to keep you until they know for sure they wanna accept. I would say you have a definite chance to be accepted Dec 15. but do not lose hope if you dont hear back yet.

So for people who have already been accepted, do we have any clarification on what "acceptances sent out on the 15th" means. Like since IU does snail mail does that mean an A would come on like the 20th...? or do we get an email, or portal update? like if I get nothing by the end of today does that mean its a no go for December or do I hold on until like the 20th lol.

I feel like ill hold out hope through this week. but im so confused cuz some people got letters, some emails, and some portal messages so i feel scrambled being like where will i be notified from.

From what I've seen on SDN this year and last, it looks like admissions physically mails out the letters on the 15th, the e-mail a few days later and the portal update last. So nobody actually hears back exactly on the 15th. It seems like it just depends on if the mail gets delievered before the e-mail notificaiton for how they hear first, even though the mail always gets sent before the e-mail. Some people have gotten the letter in the mail like two days after the 15th and other people have taken a week. The snow is a bit thick in Indy right now too so that might affect how fast the mail goes out and gets delievered.

Of course! I know it's driving me nuts that I can't know everything so I try to share what I do "know" and have seen!

A bit of a caveat - if the 15th is on a weekend, they don't usually get sent until the Monday. There's also times when the 15th is a weekday, but letters aren't postmarked until the 16th because of when they actually get sent. Snail mail to the mailing address on file (which may be your "permanent" address and not a school address depending on what you put down) usually happens first, with in-state applicants close to Indy usually getting it within two days (again, of when they SENT it and not necessarily exactly on the 17th). It can take over a week for the e-mail to be sent, and portal doesn't update for a few weeks sometimes. The mail doesn't show up through USPS mail previews (if you're signed up for those) and it doesn't even say "you have something arriving that isn't shown here" on the preview, so you/your roommate/your parents/whoever don't know it's coming until you see the big white envelope in the mailbox! Your first shot at an acceptance is usually no sooner than six weeks after your interview, but it's rolling and they'll keep looking at you again each month until the end of the cycle. Lots of end-of-October interviews from last year didn't get their acceptances until January, so not hearing the first month after your interview honestly doesn't mean you're doomed. Good luck!

Seeing everyone get their As yesterday who live more outside of Indy than I do (I live only 30ish from Indy), I interviewed Oct 29th, is my next chance Jan 15th, or do we think for whatever reason mine could just be a little more delayed this week.
