Just got one a couple minutes ago, interviewed 8/31

I am #frustrated they dont take any updates prior to interviews bc i submitted my app right before starting a big research fellowship and its been 3 mos since. I told them I would be starting it but I would like to update them on my actual research!! Won't that influence if they interview me??
