When I went, they literally deferred some people while they were there, so I'd say probably doesn't make a big difference... but who knows

That’s so messed up omfg. Imagine traveling across the country just to get deferred during the recruitment event

lmfao this happened to me and i literally left as soon as i had the opportunity to sneak out during lunch because I was so irritated. I didn't have to travel super far, so I'm sure it was much more frustrating for people who travelled from around the country, but it HUGELY turned me off from Geisinger--seems like horrible etiquette

Yeah awful etiquette fs. Students were all super nice, but that move was a huge turnoff. Gratz on Temple btw!!

Have my interview coming up, it's my first mmi so super nervous. Does anyone have any advice for the interview (ik you can't share any specifics) just looking for any general advice that can help with preparation?

Not too important. You ain't missing much. Was cool to see the classrooms and chat with other applicants/professors but that's about it. They didn't show off too much of the campus

I hope not, it looks like they sent a tiny amount last year in the Feb. Unless people stopped reporting it, it looks like Geisinger hasn't sent out any more since Jan!

Looking at Cycle Results, seems like everyone who heard back so far received their interview invite in august/september only (not necessarily interview date, but we can probably assume they interviewed somewhat soon after the invite). So is it safe to say people who interviewed in november/december won't be hearing back today

Little confused why I got pre-II deferred today. If they’re only going to release a few more interviews, why not just reject me now? They won’t have time to come back to me. “Soft-R” doesn’t make sense. There’s no point in it.

yeah that's weird, I don't understand why any schools do pre-II holds

For the low-yield schools with a million applicants, I kinda get it since they want to give every application a fair shot before immediately offering all their interviews. I just don’t think it works in practice. No time to really go back. Most people are good applicants so they’ll find people they like.

Thank you for the info. It’s crazy how long these decisions can stretch. I went to in-person event 11/08, interviewed 11/24, and received the deferral today. I am planning sending an update letter soon. I was going to prior to the decision, but decided to wait just in case of deferral. Thanks and congrats again!

So does everyone get deferred first, seems like the trend
