I've seen a few on SDN say they are. They do pull from the hold list though, so don't lose hope! :)

Waiting for my response the 13th!!!!
Has any admitted student received any updates on scholarships/financial aid? I heard various sources say that some students are receiving partial tuition scholarships, that all 36 students will be receiving full rides, etc., so no consensus yet!
Also curious to know how we think the yield will be...the cohort is supposed to be 36 students but as of yesterday there are only 24 acceptances and I can't imagine 100% yield?

Ahh ok - i JUST got the email and also got a half ride. Definitely grateful and a LOT cheaper than any other school! But I am still curious because many new programs (ie Kaiser, AWSOM) have offered full rides since new programs come with a lot of risk...not trying to be greedy but it surely would be nice and would put me at a lot more ease to commit to a brand new program with no tuition compared to paying more for an established program with upperclassmen, more resources/connections/support etc... I am wondering what others' thoughts are?

that would be nice, hoping for possibly additional scholarship for first class. but tuition does seem fair considering dual degree

That's true! I keep forgetting that at the end of these 4 years we'll all get an Engineering degree as well LOL

i think they may be hesitant to give all full, because they want to fundraiser the money to give half rides to the next few classes as well. the estimates for attendance on their website are also on the higher end (housing for their est is 28k)

Veryyyyyyy hesitant too. Haven't heard the best things about ASU and how they handle new programs/take feedback from students. Also having no building is a downside. There is j a lot of fear of the unknown, and having a full ride would put me at ease too.

For today's interview, they acknowledged not having new buildings until 3-4 years from now. Though they will have the new simulation tech for us to try on year 1. ASU SOM staff seemed very receptive to feedback and were hoping students would be central to the curriculum and community.

That's true in that they did seem super open to student feedback and wanting the students to be super involved in shaping the school. I am debating between this and my in-state school (both are around the same cost), though I can't tell if this is worth the risk or if I should just play it safe. Thoughts?

I'll try to minimize my bias as I'm awaiting a decision from this school. Though I will say compare other aspects of this school versus the other, besides cost. Where would you be happier or can make the most of your experience- which schools have better research opportunities, support groups and camaraderie, or living environment?
One of the admissions people for ASU did acknowledge that ASU would prefer students who are willing to take the risk (go out of the box), as they plan for their curriculum to be new and updated to medicine with consideration of AI, while giving students chances to co-create with them. However, if a student prefers to play it safe (stay in their box or stick to an existing curriculum at a traditional school), then it would be better to go to other schools instead. So again, all up to you and and your mindset.

Thank you, that is super helpful!! I think I am excited about the prospect of contributing to shaping the curriculum and the opportunities that come with this combined MD/MS, but I think my greatest/irrational fear is that somehow we wouldn't be prepared to match into residency, that there would be issues with accreditation, that they wouldn't get the full cohort of 36, etc., more logistical issues over anything

the admissions website says interviews run Jan.–March 2026 this year, so I guess they are done interviewing?

I'd say yes. ASU said Mar 24 would be their last day of interviewing.

I have the same doubts as an OOS accepted student. Are you attending the Second Look?

Yes I'm going!
I was looking more into the school and I feel a bit more at ease, I think the fact that there are huge donations and investments on the line, that the whole state of AZ and the Phoenix Mayor invested tons of money and hope into this school, and that it is affiliated with an already giant established university is helpful to know that they have a lot on the line. I also was looking at the staff/deans/faculty and they have strong backgrounds and affiliations which is good cause I can't imagine them wanting to risk everything if they didn't think the school would work out or that there would be logistical issues.

^^ Oops. Lol
Thank you for this, I got in later so I am still deciding about attending Second Look. I do think it will help clear up doubts. My one concern is about the limited residency spots in Arizona, if I decide wanting to stay, due to the fact that there are more established MD programs in the state. I have family in AZ and got accepted to another AZ school too, so I am deciding between both and one has a CTE deadline of April 30th.

While I definitely think that ASU has done a lot to minimize risk, they will definitely be ironing out kinks these next years. If I had another choice to a more established school, I would take it personally. The value of having upperclassmen to guide you, established interest and other clubs, etc is something to take into account.
