Sankey that shows the randomness of this process!
I was lucky enough to get into my top choice, which I’m very excited (and honestly still in disbelief) about. Didn’t get an interview there until the end of January. Only got in one other place in a very different tier.
I wanted to post partially because it’s a fun way to celebrate but also because I think it’s important for people who didn’t get into their top choice to see that most of the people getting into top programs aren’t getting in everywhere! And if you didn’t get in to your top choice it isn’t a personal failing or a sign that your application wasn’t good—I got waitlisted at 3/5 of my interviews… I so easily could’ve gotten waitlisted everywhere or decided not to apply to the places I got accepted and would’ve had to reapply! I just got lucky. You are all awesome and deserve to be doctors. I’m really sorry that the cycle doesn’t always honor that. It’s been so sweet spending time with you all on this platform; you carried me through some of the worst and most anxious moments I’ve had in a long time. Sending hugs to anyone who is still in the trenches and let me know if there’s anything I can do to help if you’re reapplying.
