I'll be the first to say this explicitly: let's stop the whole T20 BS
Title says it all. I get it we are neurotics. But if you are going into medicine for the “T20” business, then you’re in it for the absolute wrong reasons. I know the research opportunities are better and what not coz of the funding but there are many non-T20 schools churning out great research outcomes, and at the end of the day, if you realllyyyy like research more than the practice of medicine, then please pursue grad school!
Nothing against T20 I think it’s a great opportunity ofc to go to one, but please don’t kill yourself over it! (And if you got into one, please, I beg you, don’t shove it into others face. Not a good look towards other healthcare workers and your patients.) Coz it’s not that deep! Worry about which school or program will actually help you make a better doctor. This is coming from someone who themselves was once more focused on T20 chase rather than the practice of medicine, and I will 100% admit I was guilty of it myself bc of the impact the premed subreddit had on me. But real life is not all about T20! Peace out 🙏
Edit: also stop making others feel bad or feel “lesser” than bc they aren’t going to a T20 or even are aiming for one. Getting into ANY med school is hard and we should be proud of ourselves and proud of each other for making it in medicine. T20 or not.
