As we're getting towards the end of the cycle, I was curious as to see what people's expectations were going into the cycle and how things have ended up so far.

How many of you had the cycle you expected (delusionally or otherwise)? How many of you were pleasantly surprised or shocked with how well it went? How many of you are disheartened, disappointed, or crushed with how things have turned out?

I'll go first: I'm somewhat disheartened about my cycle. I thought I'd have more interest in my app (but don't we all?). I've learned a lot about the process and how much of it really does seem like luck. I imagine a lot of us go into it having been told we're a shoe-in by advisors and mentors who mean well but maybe are out-of-touch with how the process actually is. I'm happy to have had some interviews back in November, but sad to have no acceptances yet. I was doing fine at the beginning of the cycle, but the uncertainty at this point is affecting me more and more.

Anyway, amazing job to everyone who has put time and effort into this process regardless of how your cycle is going. Nice job those who have acceptances! Good luck to those waiting for decisions! Good luck to those on waitlists! Good luck to those who may have to reapply! Good luck to everyone! Your efforts will pay off in one way or another.
