All this waiting got me trying poetry....

The Mind of an Imposter

Try....but try harder than the person on your right and your left.

A classic case of pre-med identity theft.

An imposter you feel, everyone the same, personality bereft

Courses, Extracurriculars, Research, Shadowing, Rinse, Repeat.

After 4 years the dead horse will surely be beat.

-

Yet here you are...still trying and still dreaming.

The younger you would be crying and screaming.

Not from sadness nor stress, this time in a different light.

Putting all of your hard work forward with all of your might.

How many times have you dreamed of being a doctor tonight?

-

You've waited and you've waited long.

You've competed and you've competed longer.

You've lost yourself, found yourself, and lost yourself.

But every book remains different no matter how buried in a shelf.

-

Your story is unique and you are not an imposter to it.

You're the only you to ever do it.

It's nowhere near your time to give up now...

you're in exactly the right position.

Soon enough... they will be calling you a physician.
