Yale vs UPenn

The net price is identical for both, and I've narrowed it down to these two. I'm from CA and aim to do residency in CA, probably internal medicine. As someone from the west coast, I have no regional preference or either one

Yale

Pros:

*Yale system (I want lots of freedom to do research and volunteer in free clinics, so this is a net pro for me)

*Clerkships are true P/F

*T10 program, well respected

*Extremely low pressure, highly collaborative community

*Decent match list in CA

*Although 5th year is common here, it shouldn't rope me in since I'm leaning towards internal medicine

*Small class size (~100 people)

*Thesis requirement is right up my alley

Cons:

*Yale system might be underwhelming in terms of content rigor and USMLE prep

*I've heard the Yale system makes it kind of hard to distinguish yourself for residency applications, but not sure if this is true

*Smaller city, meaning (possibly) limited diversity of patients/conditions

*Hospital system is good, but not quite the caliber of UPenn's

UPenn

Pros:

*Very advanced hospital system, arguably its biggest pro by far, certainly a bit stronger than Yale's

*T10 program, well respected

*Curriculum is quite structured, which can be appreciated in a lot of ways

*Big city, lots of very diverse patients/conditions

*Most of the rotations are in the same place, little need for traveling far

*Rigorous in-house preparation for USMLE

*Very strong match list in general

Cons:

*Clerkships are not true P/F, therefore more "competitive" than Yale?

*More "busy work" than Yale, may take time away from research/volunteering

*Although the match list is great, it has (historically) a bit less CA matches than Yale (though this might just be due to demographic differences?)

*Bigger class size (~150)

Any input is appreciated!!
