Everyone talks about private loans like they're the evil, but I have seen very few people articulate why. For someone who has good credit and/or a willing cosigner with good credit, it seems there are fixed rate private loans at a couple percentage points lower interest than the fed ~8%.

Would love some input/convincing of why fed loans are better for someone who has good credit or has a cosigner, which I know may not apply for everyone. I've read about PSLF and income driven repayment as perks for federal.
