I hate some premeds
Someone from my school has already gotten into their top choice school. However, they have multiple other interviews to still attend, but they made it clear that they will under no circumstances attend those other schools or even attend those interviews. When I asked him why he doesn't just withdraw from these interview invites, he says its to decrease competition for residency because him taking up more interview slots means there will be less other people interviewing, which means that there is a lower chance that a higher quality applicant would have at having an interview, which means there will be less quality med students for competition at his desired specialties in the future. Keep in mind the earliest one of his interviews is 1.5 weeks away and the latest one is in December, so there could still be time for them to fill these slots. Why are some people like this?
