Broken dreams - advice from an m1
Hey all,
I really hope all of you are doing well and that the app cycle isn't stressing you too much (although I remember how nerve-wracking it was being in your shoes).
Last cycle, I was fortunate to get accepted to my literal dream, ivy-league top tier medical school that I have been dreaming about attending since high school. This was literally my no-cope top choice. Unfortunately, it was $200k more expensive than the school I am currently attending.
Obviously cost should be a big factor in your school choice. But also, you should know yourself. I am going to regret not going to that Ivy league school for the rest of my life. Everyone around me was telling me to avoid the debt - but sometimes you have to listen to your heart. Peace of mind and knowing you are attending your dream school is worth more than the $200k in my opinion and I'm just now realizing it. I am not happy at my current school and I think a large part of it is the "what if" of wondering what my life would be like at the other school.
So my advice – follow your dreams, do anything you can do to achieve them, and even if everyone around you is telling you certain things, you MUST know yourself and what you will regret or not regret doing. I'm not saying you should take $200k in debt, but when choosing a school and going through this process, you must be introspective and recognize who you are. YOU know who you are the best.
