I had my first gen moment
I am from a very blue collar background. My dad worked in a factory, my uncle on the railroad, and my other uncle is a car mechanic. My uncle has a lift in his garage and we have always done all the work on my car together. I never talk to my family about school because the conversation always ends of strange. Not because they are against me going to school, but because they have a hard time relating to it and get nervous thinking about loans and things like that.
Anyway, we were torching a seized bolt to try to get it off and I reached for the Oxy-acetylene torch and my uncle turned to me and said, "I got it. We need to protect your hands."
He didn't say it in a condescending way. He seemed genuine. Usually, the only words he speaks are to give me a hard time for not being able to get something loose. And he didn't mention medical school but I think that was him telling me congrats for getting in. I never told him. My dad must have. Anyway. It was awesome.
