Why would the stats of students before medical school have any impact on the rank / reputation of a medical school?

If we had step2ck averages and step 1 pass rates, that would be a lot better, but unfortunatley we dont have that info. yes step2ck averages are highly correlated with MCAT, but some schools with high MCATs don't neccesarily have high step2ck scores and some low MCAT average schools do well above their weight class (UCincy comes to mind, their students did incredible on step 1 back when this data was reported).

I really wish US news was still around since they made this type of data avaliable.
