Unpopular opinion: To announce/celebrate getting off the waitlist, you don’t have to end your announcement with some overly positive version of “Hang in there guys, it can happen for you too,” or “stay positive, your time will come,” etc. Seriously, ten minutes ago you were just like us. In the time between your acceptance and you announcing you got off the WL here, you haven’t become a member of adcom or gained some new insight on being the value of patience and being positive.

Most of us are happy for you. Most of us are going to celebrate with you. Most of us hope that it will happen for us someday. But seriously, just announce that you got off the waitlist, share whatever you want about what the acceptance experience was like, thank folks for their support if you like, but keep the overly positive “it will happen for you if you just believe” platitudes to yourself.
