WL expectations need to be adjusted ......
I hate to be the reality check but people need to stop posting “who has withdrawn from x??” and “please please withdraw now rather than tomorrow” because that’s literally not helpful at all. Schools admit MORE students than they need because they KNOW people will say no so when someone withdraws that does not mean there is now an open spot…. Ex. School may have 100 seats but they admit 150 bc they know people will say no. Just trying to temper expectations because people seem to be absolutely losing their minds now and think that someone withdrawing their A means that is equal to one person off the WL. This process sucks and is brutal but it’s important to also understand…… keeping fingers crossed for all WL people but unfortunately it is realistic that WLs are huge and a small % come off. Schools try and do the math to estimate how many to accept w yield to take as FEW off WL as possible ….
I’m sure this will get downvoted but my intention is not to be negative… I think it’s probably just good to have a more realistic understanding of how the WL works… I’d rather be excited and surprised when I get off a WL rather than have my hopes up so high and be unprepared if I need to reapply
