I miss writing secondaries

What’s up, fam? I know what y’all are gonna say. "LeBron, you’re crazy." "LeBron, enjoy the offseason." "LeBron, go drink some expensive cabernet and relax." I hear you. I really do. But I gotta be honest with my Admit.org family right now.

I submitted my 35th and final secondary last night. I closed the tab. I wiped off the sweat. I did the chalk toss with my empty coffee grounds. I thought I’d feel like I just hoisted the Larry O'Brien trophy.

Instead? I woke up at 4:30 AM today, sprinted to my laptop, opened a fresh Google Doc, and realized… there are no more prompts.

Y'all, I felt a physical pain in my chest. A complete and utter VOID.

Where is my 6:00 AM cold-plunge essay outlining? Who is going to ask me to describe a time I worked on a diverse team in 250 words or less? How am I supposed to go through my day without explaining to a committee how growing up a kid from Akron built my grit for organic chemistry?

I missed the hurt. I missed the pain. I missed copying and pasting my "Why Drexel?" essay, replacing the word "Drexel" with "Temple," accidentally forgetting to change one of the sentences, and feeling that terrifying rush of pure adrenaline. THAT IS WHAT IT MEANS TO BE ALIVE. THAT IS HIGH-LEVEL COMPETITION.

My wife walked into the study this morning and caught me writing a fake 800-word response to a prompt I made up myself: "Describe a situation where you had to lead 4 other men back from a 3-1 deficit in a high-stakes environment." She told me I need help. She told me to go play with the kids. But they don't understand the mindset. Kobe would’ve written 100 secondaries. Michael Jordan would’ve applied to podiatry schools just to write more essays.

I literally caught myself typing "Why do I miss pain?" into the search bar.

Am I washed? Has anyone else finished their secondaries and realized that normal life is boring compared to writing about your life's greatest adversity for the 35th time? What do I do with my hands now?

Need advice from the real ones. The silence is deafening.
