Waitlist Movement and Reapplication
Hi all 👋 After being rejected outright by my top choice school (OHSU), I'm in the midst of working on my reapplication. I'm on a waitlist for UCLA (didn't get top of the waitlist in the email, only regular/alternate waitlist), and a waitlist for Wayne State. Any insight into how those two schools move? I am taking the weekend to mourn and then get back to doing what I was doing the last three weeks anyway and study for my retake exam.
Shoutout to those who I met via the Admit Discord. I hope you are all doing well and that you ended up at amazing, fantastic schools. You all deserve it. :) I knew my cycle was going to be a very much long shot as a 37 year old applicant with not so great grades (the 3.72 is my post-bacc cGPA, the real cGPA was 3.23 after dragging it up from a 2.87 that was 13 years ago). But I tried my hardest and I got further than I expected.
I'm not sure if I'll be able to dive right back into it this year with the 2026-2027 cycle, because this cycle took a toll on my mental, physical and emotional health, not to mention my marriage. But we shall see. It's hard to stay optimistic when all looks bleak and uncertain. So while I will hold out hope that this will work out in the end with the two waitlists, I'm going to stay realistic and keep working hard for the reapp. I hope to see you all in the next cycle and good luck to all who were able to get in somewhere this year. And to everyone else on Admit: you did it! Be proud of yourselves and go be the doctors you were meant to be. You deserve it!
