Yale or Instate School
I was fortunate enough to be accepted to Yale, and I love everything about the program so far. I have not actually visited campus yet, but I will be going to Second Look soon and am very excited to see it in person.
I was also accepted to a few other private schools with similar costs, so those are probably off the table. However, I was admitted to two of my in-state public schools as well. One would be about $40k per year cheaper (ranked around ~100), and the other about $30k per year cheaper (ranked 70–80).
I know rankings are far from everything, but I genuinely feel like I would be happier and probably perform better at Yale. Everything I have read/seen about the school seems like it is exactly what I want in medical school, much more than the in state schools. If it matters, I am thinking of doing a more competitive residency like ortho or ophthalmology. Plus, I want to get out of my state and live somewhere new.
I have not heard back about financial aid yet, although realistically I do not expect to receive much anywhere. Is it reasonable to choose Yale in this situation despite the additional cost? I would appreciate any advice. Thanks guys. Love you all
