Admit rank should be more reflective of US Hospital Honor Roll
Maybe a bit of a hot take, but I feel like outside of the T10 there’s a real disconnect between how schools are evaluated and what actually matters for training. A lot of the emphasis seems to be on applicant stats (MCAT/GPA, etc.), but that doesn’t necessarily reflect the quality of the clinical experience.
It seems like the strength of the affiliated hospital system should carry more weight, especially things like patient volume, diversity, and complexity. Even metrics like the U.S. News hospital honor roll probably say more about the clinical training environment than incoming class stats do. At the end of the day, that’s what shapes you as a physician, not just the numbers of the incoming class.
